Sacred Six on Escape, Intention and the Spas That Shape Us
I recorded this solo episode from Alba on the Mornington Peninsula, the spa that took me straight back to my twenties. This is the story of why Sacred Six exists, and how the right space can change the way you feel.

I am recording this from a daybed at Alba on the Mornington Peninsula, and I have just walked out of the water. This is a solo episode about why Sacred Six exists at all. About escape, about intention, and about the spas that quietly shape the way we see ourselves.
Why Alba Took Me Back
I have just finished filming Sacred Six: Best Destination Spas in Australia, and Alba is where it began to make sense to me. The moment I stepped into those curved concrete rooms and sank into the geothermal water, I was back in my twenties, back in the thermal spas of Switzerland, realising very clearly that this was the world I wanted to write about.
It is strange how a place can do that. You arrive carrying your whole life, and within an hour the water has loosened something. I felt it then. I felt it again here.
Sacred Six Is Not Just a List
Sacred Six was never meant to be a ranking. It is about the places that fuse architecture, design and wellness in a way that feels transportive. The kind of spaces where you step out of your everyday life and into something more intentional, more imaginative, more restorative.
A great spa is a piece of design before it is anything else. The light, the materials, the way the water meets the stone. When it is done well, the building does half the healing for you.
What Makes a Spa Truly Exceptional
In this episode I talk about what lifts a spa from lovely to unforgettable. It is rarely the menu of treatments. It is the intention behind the space. The silence that is built in rather than asked for. The detail that tells you someone cared about how you would feel, not just how it would photograph.
Australia deserves its own Sacred Six because we have these places now, and most people do not know they exist. I wanted to put them on the map.
How Place Has Shaped My Work
These experiences have shaped my work, my perspective and my relationship with beauty and wellbeing over time. They taught me that beauty is not only what you put on your skin.
