What comes to mind when you picture a psychic medium? Incense? Crystal balls? Whispery voices?
David is none of those things, and that is exactly what makes this conversation so disarming.
Before becoming one of Australia's most sought-after mediums, he was a corporate counter-terrorism analyst. Logical, sceptical and deeply uninterested in anything that smelled of woo woo. Then a single reading in suburban Melbourne changed everything.
From counter-terrorism to mediumship
David's story is not the one you would expect. He spent his early career in a world of evidence, risk and cold analysis, the furthest thing from crystals and tarot. He had no intention of becoming a medium, and even less interest in being one publicly.
That all shifted after one reading he booked almost on a whim. What he heard in that little Melbourne lounge room was so specific, so undeniable, that the analyst in him could not explain it away. It cracked something open, and slowly he began to follow the thread.
How trauma sharpened his intuition
One of the most moving parts of our conversation is how honest David is about the hard stuff. He talks about growing up as a highly intuitive child without realising it, coming out as a teenager in a more conservative Melbourne, and his parents' separation.
His view is that grief, heartbreak and ordinary real life were not obstacles to his gift. They were the training ground for it. He believes trauma often unlocks or sharpens psychic and intuitive abilities, because pain forces us to feel more, notice more and pay closer attention to what is unspoken.
Why everyone has intuition
If there is one message I want you to take from this episode, it is this. David is adamant that intuition is not reserved for a chosen few. We all have it. Most of us have simply been taught to ignore it.
He shares practical, grounded ways to start strengthening your own intuition, and how to tell the difference between a true inner knowing and the noise of anxiety. It is far less mystical, and far more useful, than you might assume.
Life as a classroom for the soul
We also go deep on the big questions. David describes what it feels like to receive messages from spirit, why he believes nothing is a coincidence, and his beautiful philosophy that life on earth is a classroom for the soul.
He talks about reincarnation, soul contracts and what he calls the waiting room of heaven, and how to recognise the signs, synchronicities and moments of deja vu that he believes are quietly guiding us all the time. There is also a surprising overlap, he says, between spirituality and good old self-development.
A grounded look at grief and what comes next
It is a thoughtful, surprisingly practical look at intuition, energy, grief and what it means to be alive. Whether you are deeply spiritual or gently sceptical, this episode might just change the way you see the world, and yourself.
